Agama continues to develop its library of pre-built plugins to make it easy for our customers to expand onto new platforms.
Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for video service providers to bring their services to new platforms so they can keep up with their customers’ demand for high-quality experiences. This article provides additional information about our new plugin for the Dash.js player, which is fully compatible with Agama CDM (Client Device Monitoring).
Breaking away from the traditional 1-to-1 integration approach and moving towards sustainable ready-made plugins
Dash.js is the reference player implementation for the playback of MPEG DASH using JavaScript and a browser that is compliant. It is made available by the Dash industry forum.
The dash.js player plugin for Smart TVs and browsers is the most recent addition to our collection of plugins. It is compatible with browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, and it also supports the Smart TV operating systems Samsung Tizen and LG WebOS.
Adding the Dash.js plugin is a crucial step to broaden the different flavors of integrations supported out of the box by Agama.
Our customers are used to having all the information available for set-top boxes, but today it’s equally important to have the same insights for mobile devices, AppleTV, Chromecast and smart TVs. It is essential for us to make it simple to expand to all the various platforms; having complete information about how the video service performs on all the different devices in the same system is powerful, both to be proactive in decision-making – for fixing issues before the customer detects them, as well as to ensure efficient troubleshooting when a customer contacts the customer care support to report a problem.

The Dash.js plugin is used for the Agama Client Device Monitoring and Analytics solution, which provides visualization, analytics, alarming, and correlation, to enable real-time end-user experience insights.
